La
Plana de Vic (the Vic's Plain), an undulating and fertile land with
abundant nature, is la Porta del Montseny (the Montseny's
Door), according to some geologists, it is a creation of the River
Ter. The torrential and fast waters of the high part of the River
Ter, as a consequence of the difference in levels between the Pyrenean
plains, made its way through and created this territory. La Plana
is the result of the erosion of the recent materials caused by the
water of the river. The old river-bed and the erosion, with its corresponding
crags and spurs, make this area up. |

 La
Plana de Vic is all surrounded by mountains: in the north the mountains
of Comarca (administrative area corresponding to the English county)
of Ripollès and Comarca of Garrotxa, in the east the mountainous
area of Les Guilleries, in the southeast the Massif of Montseny,
in the west the mountainous areas of Moianès and Lluçanès,
and it remains closed by a circle of mountainous systems that draws
the heights of its outline: the mountains of Bellmunt, Collsacabra,
Guilleries, Matagalls, Tagamanent, the Bertí's Crags, Collsuspina,
Gurb, El Grau and Orís, and the Pyrenean spurs of Montesquiu
and Besora.
In the south of Comarca of Osona, the municipalities of Aiguafreda, Balenyà,
El Brull, Centelles, Malla, Muntanyola, Sant Martí de Centelles, Santa
Eulàlia de Riuprimer, Seva, Taradell, Tona and Viladrau make up a space
of wide dimensions geographically unique in a little country.
Most
of the villages that form this web page are situated next to the C-17 road. Thus,
coming up from Granollers we find Sant Martí de Centelles, Aiguafreda,
Centelles, Balenyà-Hostalets, Tona and Malla. From the hostel "Les
Quatre Carreteres" departs the road that goes up to Seva, where we have
the option to set off in the direction of El Brull and get to Collformic, in
the Massif of Montseny, or we can head to Taradell, Viladrau and Espinelves until
reaching Sant Hilari or Arbúcies. TheViladrau road passes through an extraordinary
scenery, full of leafy forests and freshness. In direction of El Brull we go
up to the Massif of Montseny, in Collformic near the Matagalls' Peak. Besides,
we have another mean of transport, that is the train, which goes from Barcelona
to Puigcerdà and La Tor de Querol, in the north of Catalonia near France. |
