Rural
municipality that has found the way to keep its agricultural identity
without giving up the future. It is a municipality situated in
the southwest of the town of Vic, in the centre of La Plana de
Vic (the Vic's Plain).
We have to stand out the Romanesque Sant Vicenç's Church of the 10th century,
the rectory (also a museum) and the cemetery. Some considerable sculpture elements
with a clear Hellenistic influence, which probably belonged to a Roman funeral
monument (2nd century B.C.), were found near the church. These sculpture elements
are considered to be one of the oldest evidences of sculpture in the whole country.
Malla also has many interesting ancient masies (traditional Catalan farm
buildings), which most of them have been enlarged and renovated during the 18th
century, except the masia called El Ricart, which was renovated
in the 19th century.
Recently,
an old Christmas tree plantation has been turned into a forest
that combines art, nature and leisure. There, it has been established
an artistic route called the Prat Verd (the Green Field).
